January - Create your own Google logo
"Be a designer and programmer – bring the Google logo to life using code." Kids, with the help of their parents, could create their own account in Scratch, or they could use the library's account. We provided Chrome books for the kids to work on, plus instruction, help and troubleshooting.
February - Coding with Ozobots
Ozobots are tiny robots that can help teach programming through experimentation and play. Ozobots can identify lines, colors, and codes on digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper.
March - Code your own Dance Party with Code.org
Featuring music from artists such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, The Weekend and more!
April - Flappy Bird Hour of Code
Learn about interactive events while programming your own version of Flappy Bird!
May - Website Build
Websites can be built for business or for fun. This month, Kids Code members created THIS website! We learned important rules about internet safety, and using & sharing content online. This website also showcases the coding projects we've been creating all school year long.
September - Intro to Coding
During Intro to Coding we talked about what coding is and found out what previous experiences we've had with code. We even played around with reading code ourselves.
October - JavaScript
JavaScript programming language is used to write programs that run in web pages. JavaScript can control how a web page looks or make the page respond when a viewer clicks a button or moves the mouse.
November - Python
Python is a great programming language to learn when getting started. It's also a powerful language used by many companies for making and deploying web apps. Fun Fact: Python, powers the world’s second-largest search engine: YouTube.
December - Netiquette & Website Design
This month, Kids Code members continued working on their previously created pages on THIS website! We refreshed ourselves on the basics of internet safety, and using & sharing content online. This website also showcases the latest language lessons we've learned about this fall.
